It seems like the era of the new displays has begun! Following the notches, the concept of in-hole displays is here with the Samsung Galaxy A8s and the Huawei Nova 4. Now, Taiwanese company ASUS is expected to take up the same trend.

According to a report by Lets Go Digital, ASUS, back in August, filed for a couple of patents at EUIPO which have now been published.

As per the patent filed, ASUS is speculated to bring its future smartphones with an in-hole display. The smartphone will come with a hole in the display, providing room for lesser bezels and a better experience.

Another patent hints at a pop-up selfie camera for its future smartphones which will also contribute to the full-screen display with really thin bezels.

The pop-up camera design has various sizes, which suggests that there could be more than one front snapper along with other sensors, depending on the size of the pop-up area. The design can also house the Face Unlock feature.

However, other details such as the technical specs and the other features remain unknown.

For those who don’t know, ASUS is also planning to change its strategies and focus more on the gaming smartphones while concentrating on its ZenFone series as well.

However, for any official confirmation, we still need to wait until 2019, preferably February or March. To know what ASUS’s plans for 2019 are, stay tuned to Fossbytes.
