Here’s How Indian Users Can Use The New WhatsApp Pay Feature?
Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp is gradually rolling out a new update for Indian users. The update adds a new “Payments” feature, which, as the name suggests, will allow users to transfer money from their bank accounts through UPI (Unified Payments Interface). In this article, let’s look at how to set up the WhatsApp payments feature.
The feature was integrated after partnering with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Adding your bank account and transferring money is similar to how it’s done via Google Pay. In a statement, WhatsApp said, “This secure payment experience makes transferring money just as easy as sending a message. People can safely send money to a family member or share the cost of goods from a distance without having to exchange cash in person or going to a local bank.”
How To Set Up WhatsApp Payments
1. Open WhatsApp and tap on the three dots at the top right corner.
2. From the menu, find and tap on the WhatsApp payments option.
3. Now, click on the “Add payment method” option and read and agree to the terms and conditions.
4. Select your bank from the list or search for it in the search bar.
5. If you already have a UPI ID created for the bank, enter it, and you’ll have payments set up on WhatsApp.
6. If you don’t have a UPI ID set up, you’ll need to create one by simply following the instructions on your screen.
7. In the end, you’ll have WhatsApp payments set up.
If you’ve not received the update yet, you can wait or download the latest WhatsApp APK from the APKMirror website.
