Brave Browser Is Now The Easiest Way To Browse Dead Websites

Brave browser has teamed up with Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine to help users find dead web pages. Whenever your internet search hits a 404, or even other error codes, Brave browser will automatically detect it and offer to search the Wayback Machine for a backup.

For those who are unaware, the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine stores snapshots of billions of web pages. With time, several pages go offline which creates a problem for people who need to dig into source materials. With Brave browser version 1.4, you will be given an option to search through Wayback Machine if the original page fails to load.

Brave can now detect 14 HTTP error codes in addition to the 404 (page not found) condition. Other error codes include: 408, 410, 451, 500, 502, 503, 504, 509, 520, 521, 523, 524, 525, and 526.

Currently, Brave is the only browser that offers native Wayback Machine integration. However, you can plug various Wayback Machine functionality such as 404 detection and archived URL playback, through extensions in any browser like Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.

This is not the first time when Brave and Wayback Machine have collaborated. Back in 2017, Internet Archive announced that it will accept Brave’s BAT micropayments just months after it was launched.

Please note that the Wayback Machine integration is only available in the desktop version only. The feature hasn’t been released on mobile versions of the Brave browser yet.
