OnePlus 7 Won’t Support Wireless Charging, Confirms CEO Pete Lau
The OnePlus 7 has been making rounds in the rumor mill, and while not all the details we have are concrete, this new piece of information comes directly from the horse’s mouth.
In an interview with CNET, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus 7 won’t come with support for wireless charging. The reason for not including wireless charging for the OnePlus 7 could be its slower speed as compared to OnePlus’ fast charging tech ‘Warp Charge’ (previously known as Dash Charge).
It is suggested that OnePlus is working on faster wireless charging capabilities to match its fast charging technology, and could be seen in future OnePlus smartphones. Sadly, it won’t be the OnePlus 7.
But the smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor. While other details regarding the OnePlus 7 are not available, rumors hint at a complete bezel-less display and a selfie pop-up camera as well.
At the ongoing MWC 2019 event, OnePlus also showcased a prototype of its first 5G smartphone, which will include the Snapdragon X55 5G modem.
The device was encased to avoid disclosing the design but the 5G prototype is expected to come with a 21:9 aspect ratio and lose the notch, hinting at either a pop-up front camera or a no front snapper at all.
However, OnePlus didn’t reveal more about the device. While it is being presumed that the 5G prototype is that of the OnePlus 7, there is no word on whether or not it is the OnePlus 7.
The smartphone is expected to make its entry in May 2019. Hence, stay tuned for further information.
