“Android + Nintendo Switch?” — Wonder Is Making A Gaming Smartphone-Console Hybrid
Mysterious gaming startup Wonder has revealed some interesting details of its upcoming gaming hardware. Thanks to an early prototype obtained by The Verge, it’s now confirmed that Wonder is working on an Android-powered device focused on gaming.
The device in question will be a lot more than an Android smartphone. It’ll ship with a software called WonderOS to allow overclocking for beaming the display to a bigger display used for gaming; Nintendo Switch features a similar capability. The overall package will contain phone, dock, and controller.
On the dock, the users will be able to fit the phone like a screen attachment. The package will also include a subscription service that’ll make sure that’ll let the users access original and existing games.
At the moment, we don’t have any details on the pricing or release date. Moreover, there isn’t even an official name of the product.
There are chances that the device might be not be developer or branded by Wonder; it could also be launched as an OS that could work on Wonder-enabled devices. However, the company expects the device to be able to complete all tasks of an Android phone and act as gaming platform.
The company is also in tasks with game developers and Android smartphone manufacturers to bring Wonder-optimized games and Wonder-ready devices.
