World’s Cheapest Mobile Data Is Available In India At $0.26
A survey conducted by Cable.co.uk suggests that India has the cheapest mobile data prices in the world, priced at $0.26 for 1GB of data.
The research involved 6,331 data packs in 230 countries between October 23 and November 28, 2018, to compare the price of 1GB of internet data in the world.
While India holds the first position with the cheapest mobile data, Kyrgyzstan stands on the second spot with an average price of 1GB data at $0.27, Kazakhstan on the third position with $0.49, and Ukraine on the fourth place with $0.51.
Commenting on the mobile data research, Dan Howdle, consumer telecoms analyst at Cable.co.uk said, “Many of the cheapest countries in which to buy mobile data fall roughly into one of two categories. Some have excellent mobile and fixed broadband infrastructure and so providers are able to offer large amounts of data, which brings down the price per gigabyte.”
Additionally, Zimbabwe is the most expensive country for mobile data, with an average price of $75.20 which is 289 times more than the average cost of 1GB of data in India.
Telecom operator Reliance Jio is the arguable ruler of the telecom segment in India, evidently due to its affordable mobile plans, which led other telecom operators to reduce their respective prices significantly.
The price deduction by most telecom companies has resulted in India becoming the place where the World’s cheapest data is available.
