Twitter Might Let You ‘Clarify’ Bad Tweets Instead Of Editing Them

Rumors have been floating around that Micro-blogging site Twitter would finally introduce the ability to edit tweets. However, it seems like the company has other plans and could launch a Clarify feature instead.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey at the recent Goldman Sachs event has suggested that the platform is considering introducing an option to add clarification to the posted tweets by users.

It is suggested that the new feature could help in quickly finding the tweet (a new or older one) in question and clarification could clear the air for the tweet.

Dorsey, during the event, said, “The other thing that we’re seeing more broadly within the culture right now in this particular moment is people quote-unquote ‘being canceled’ because of past things that they’ve said on Twitter or various other places on social media. There’s no credible way to go back and clarify or even have a conversation to show the learning and the transition since.”

The Clarify feature can further add context to the various tweets deemed inaccurate or for the unclear ones.

To recall, Twitter currently doesn’t allow users to edit tweets, leading users to either keep them on the feed or delete them.

However, there is no word on whether or not the Clarify feature will make its entry on Twitter.

While the feature could prove helpful for tweets that need clarification, I feel an edit option is something we need more as of now.
