This Deepfake App Can Swap Your Face Into Funny GIFs
Have you ever wished to paste your face on one of your favorite GIF? Well, if you did, then you are in luck because the Doublicat app is here to make things interesting for you.
This app can easily replace the original face on a GIF with your own face. And it can do that with the help of Reface AI, which is a Generative Adversarial Network (GAN).
To make this work, first, you have to click a selfie using the Doublicat app. Then, you’ll get more than enough GIF options to swap your face.
The CEO of the Reface AI also boasted about not relying on 3D models of your face. According to him, 3D masks, Face reconstruction, and texture blending “can be unstable in facial expressions and turns.”
Is There Any Privacy Concern With The Doublicat App?
It’s pretty normal for you to be cautious before using this app, especially if you look back at the privacy threatening records of other deepfake apps like FaceApp. And that is why the company confirmed that your photo will be deleted as soon as it is processed. So, there’s no way your data will be leaked from the app.
“The app processes the photos of people and deletes it right away. We store only face embeddings – vector representations of facial features – which we don’t share with anyone,” said the CEO of the company.
Still, we need to be conscious all the time when using apps that depend on our data and keep an eye on whatever permissions they have.
Anyway, what’s more, is that the Reface AI isn’t just stopping there. The company is planning on bringing out a video app pretty soon, which can perform a similar face-swapping function.
In the meantime, you can play around with Doublicat, which is available for both Android and iOS operating systems.
