Before we move forward, let’s give you an overview of this hatchback.
Tata Altroz is a premium hatchback launched earlier this year by Tata Motors. Within less than a year of its launch, the hatchback became quite popular among the masses. One of the most highlighting features of the car is its five-star Global NCAP safety rating.
Additionally, Altroz is equally impressive when it comes to riding quality, design, interior, fuel-efficiency, and lots of premium features. However, similar to all other cars in the market, it too has areas where there is a scope of improvement. Regarding the same, we have brought you the experience of Mr.Prashank who is the owner of Altroz.
Things You Should Know About Tata Altroz Petrol
Shortcomings Of Tata Altroz Petrol
Since Tata Altroz is quite an impressive car, many people have bought it and a lot would be thinking of buying it. However, there are a few issues that the masses would be aware of before making any decision. So without any further ado, let’s bring them into light right away.
1. Power Lag
The petrol variant of Tata Altroz is powered by a BS6 compliant three-cylinder 1.2-liter Revotron engine. It is capable of generating an output of around 84 BHP and 113 Nm. The same engine is present under the hood of its younger sibling Tata Tiago.
The owner said that Tiago is known for providing a punchy performance whereas Tata Altroz lags a bit when it comes to initial acceleration. However, according to the owner, the problem exists only in the first gear when you need an instant boost.
This problem arises only due to a bigger body and more weight of Altroz than Tiago. However, the owner said Altroz does not feel underpowered in higher gear ratios and it can easily touch a speed mark of 160 km/h.
2. Few Manufacturing Defects
The owner said, a slight noise and vibration generates from the bonnet whenever he accelerates the car. He said the sound is quite audible when the music is off. However, the intensity of the noise is not up to that level where it disturbs your driving.
Regarding the same, the owner said since the Altroz launched this year only, his car is from the very first manufacturing lot. Moreover, these kinds of issues arise in most of the first batch models of any car.

3. Jerk In Second Gear
As per the owner, he has experienced jerks and uneven power delivery during the second gear. However, he said it happens only sometimes and mostly in the case when he cold starts the car.
At the same time, the owner told YouTuber that he kept the ignition of the car on for about 30 seconds in the cold start case.
Well, if it’s only due to the cold start that he experiences jerks then it might not be a real issue. We are saying this because in case of a cold start it’s recommended to keep the ignition of your car on for about 5-10 minutes.
Still, as the owner has been driving for quite a long time, he might have experienced the problem in different situations. Therefore, there could be this issue in the car.
4. Inadequate Aftersales Service
Though the Indian automaker has improved its after-sales service, it still needs to do more. In the owner’s experience, there have been times when he has not received a proper response. For example, when the owner told the technician about the jerk problem in second gear, the technician, instead of trying to figuring out the problem, pointed out mistakes in the owner’s driving style.
However, the owner said it happens rarely and most of the time the service is good.
Conclusion: Should You Buy Tata Altroz Petrol?

In addition, if we talk about after-sales service then, Tata Motors has improved it significantly in the past few years and we hope it will get better in future.
