POCO F2 May Launch As Rebranded Redmi K30 In India
Xiaomi recently announced two new flagships – Redmi K30 Pro and Redmi K30 Pro Zoom in China. The smartphones feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, a 6.67-inch AMOLED display, and of course, 5G capability.
A new piece of information suggests that Xiaomi will launch Redmi K30 in India under the POCO brand, possibly as POCO F2. This comes after an XDA developer found tidbits revolving around POCO in the MIUI 11 code.
While digging into the MIUI camera app code in one of the MIUI 11 betas, he found “Shot on POCO phone” string and managed to link it to code-name “lmiin.” XDA reports that “lmiin” is the code-name for Redmi K30 Pro.
Interestingly, POCO X2, released last month in India, was also the rebranded version of Redmi K20. While Xiaomi never made it official, it was pretty clear from the identical specifications. All of this builds a strong case that POCO F2 will be none other than a rebranded Redmi K30 for India.
POCO F2 Price and Specifications
Going by the previous assumption of POCO F2 being Redmi K30, the new Pocophone will also have Snapdragon 865, a 6.67-inch AMOLED display and a 4,700mAh battery with 33W fast charging over USB-C.
On the back, the phone will feature a quad-camera setup, including a 64-megapixel primary sensor, a 13-megapixel ultrawide, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a 5-megapixel telephoto. Similar to POCO X2, the phone will have a pop-up selfie camera.
As for the price, Redmi K30 launched in China for 2,999 yuan (~Rs 32,000) for the 6GB RAM/128GB storage model and went up to ~Rs 42,000 for an 8GB RAM model. If POCO F2 follows the same pricing strategy, the phone will also be the cheapest phone with Snapdragon 865.
