What are Cookies?

A cookie is a small piece of text sent to your browser by a website you visit. It helps the site remember information about your visit. This can make it easier to revisit the site and make it more useful to you.

The Cookies help in getting relevant ads, viewer counts, signing up, and data protection. It retains information related to improving the functionality of any website.

There are two types of cookies:

  • First-party cookies – Stored by the domain (website) you are visiting directly. They allow website owners to collect analytics data, remember language settings, and perform other useful functions that help provide a good user experience.
  • Third-party cookies – Created by domains other than the one you are visiting directly, hence the name third-party. They are used for cross-site tracking, retargeting and ad-serving.

How to enable Cookies on Chrome?


1. Open Chrome and search chrome://settings/cookies. (Settings>Privacy and security>Cookies and other site data)

3. Ensure that ‘Clear cookies and site data when you close all windows and ‘Send a “Do Not Track” request with your browsing traffic‘ are unchecked.
