Orange Pi 2G-IoT — A Cheap Linux Computer With Cellular Modem Is Now Available
Short Bytes: The open spec Orange Pi 2G-IoT single board Linux computer is now available. Apart from Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, this tiny PC also features cellular connectivity. In February, The Raspberry Pi Foundation launched the wireless-enabled Raspberry Pi Zero W. It was a tiny single board computer that came loaded with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. But, what about the cellular connectivity? What if you wish to insert your SIM card in your Linux board and use the internet?To solve this need, Orange Pi 2G-IoT was created. It’s a small SBC that has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cellular data options. However, currently, it’s just limited to 2G data speeds.
While the Orange Pi 2G-IoT was unveiled at the start of this year, the board is now available on Aliexpress for just $9.90.
Talking about the specifications of Orange Pi 2G-IoT, it’s powered by a 1GHz ARM Cortex-A5 32-bit processor and 256MB RAM. For graphics, you get Vivante GV860. This quad-core SBC is the first Orange Pi to ditch the Allwinner SoC family.
Apart from the 500MB NAND flash storage, you can expand the storage with the microSD slot. You also get USB 2.0 host, microUSB OTG ports, audio jack, microphone, and optional speaker.
