What Are Discord Loot Boxes? How To Open Them?
It’s no secret that Discord has been grabbing headlines lately, especially with the impending integration of ads on the platform. However, as part of their April Fool’s celebration, Discord has introduced loot boxes within the app, offering in-game rewards, perks, and badges. Here’s everything you need to know about them.
Different types of rewards
Similar to the loot boxes found in popular games like COD, these boxes offer a plethora of unique rewards, each tailored to a different demographic. While these rewards may only be available for a limited time, some reports suggest that they could become a permanent fixture, considering the company’s YouTube video announcing the feature has already garnered over a billion views. Moreover, these boxes are available to all users without needing a Discord Nitro subscription. Rewards in the loot boxes include:
- OHHHHH BANANA (Donkey Kong)
- Speed Boost (Sonic The Hedgehog)
- Buster Blade (Final Fantasy)
- Dream Hammer (Kirby)
- Power Helmet (Metroid)
- Quack!!
- Zelda
- Cute Plushie
- Wump Shell (Mariokart)
Furthermore, if you’re lucky enough to collect all nine rewards, you’ll also unlock a special Clown avatar decoration and a badge for your profile.
How do you open the Discord loot boxes?
Thankfully, the process of opening these loot boxes is pretty straightforward:
- Open the Discord app on your phone or laptop.
- Click on the User Settings icon at the bottom of your Discord screen.
- Navigate to the Loot Boxes tab under the Clips section. However, if you don’t see the option, simply restart your Discord app.
- Click on the “Open a new box!” button, then click on the box itself to reveal your prize.
Moreover, this section displays all the rewards you’ve collected so far and features loot box stats, including the number of boxes you and the community have opened, along with your total rewards.
