Samsung’s First 5G Phone To Go On Sale In April In South Korea
In addition to the Galaxy S10 trio, Samsung served on our plates and the South Korean major introduced its first-ever 5G smartphone, dubbed the Galaxy S10 5G. However, we did not know when we would be able to get our hands on it then. The company has now officially confirmed the availability details of the smartphone.
The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G will be up for grabs in South Korea, starting April 5, 2019, making the device the first-ever commercially available 5G smartphone in the market.
For the uninitiated, 5G has been commercially accessible in South Korea since December 2018, hence the idea to launch the device there first seems like an idea. Plus, South Korea is Samsung’s home country which adds more weight to the reason.
To recall, the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G was initially supposed to be available via Verizon in the US. However, South Korea pulled up its socks and is now the first place where a first 5G smartphone will be available.
As the specs, the Galaxy S10 5G comes with a 6.7-inch Quad HD+ Dynamic AMOLED display and is powered by an octa-core Exynos 9820 processor. It comes with 8GB of RAM and two ROM options: 256GB and 512GB.
On the camera front, the 5G-ready device has four rear cameras (a first for Samsung), a 12MP telephoto lens, a 12MP wide-angle lens, a 16MP ultra wide-angle lens, and a 3D depth sensor. The front has two: a 10MP one and another 3D depth sensor.
The smartphone is backed by a 4,500mAh battery with super fast charging, runs Android 9.0 Pie, and has an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner and facial recognition.
The smartphone is up for pre-orders and is priced at $1,231 (256GB) and $1,366 (512GB).
The Samsung S10 5G will come in Majestic Black, Royal Gold, and Crown Silver color options and will soon reach other markets.
