Confirmed: Android P Is Coming To OnePlus 3/3T | No Android Oreo 8.1
Honestly! There aren’t many smartphone manufacturers that assure to deliver the latest Android version, certainly not on their early devices. But the recent OnePlus post announcement has reinstated our trust in OEM’s.
Actualizing on best Android OEM ever, OnePlus has confirmed that it will deliver Android P on its older devices – OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, skipping the overdue Android Oreo (8.1) update.
Oxygen OS staff manager Gary C. said, “We have decided to focus our development resources on the Android P project instead of upgrading the device to Android 8.1 so that we can offer more exciting features and improvements for our OnePlus 3 and 3T users.”
For those who are not aware, Oxygen OS is a customized version of stock Android. And OnePlus devices exclusively carry Oxygen OS. Similar to Samsung TouchWiz, Xiaomi MIUI, the responsibility of updating your device to the latest Android version is in the hands of your smartphone manufacturer.
Unfortunately, there is no news for OnePlus 2, OnePlus X, and OnePlus One, so could be assumed that Android P will not be arriving on these devices.
According to the post, the Android P update will be coming initially on OnePlus 6, OnePlus 5/5T and then will follow OnePlus 3 and 3T. Meanwhile, for the users who can’t wait, Android P beta version is already available on OnePlus 6.
Android P (9.0) is the latest Android version in the Android timeline and it has revamped the OS by adding gesture navigation support for the first time. In your free time, don’t forget to check out our Android P top features list to know more.
