Xiaomi’s New Patent Hints At Dual Punch-Hole Selfie Camera
After notches, in-hole displays seem to be trending in the tech world! Joining the league of Samsung and Honor, Xiaomi could be another company to introduce punch-hole displays, however, with a twist.
According to a report by LetsGoDigital, Xiaomi has been granted a patent by the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) which hints at a Xiaomi smartphone with two punch-hole cameras on both the top left and right corners.
The patent lists various smartphone designs with punch-hole cameras, along with different placements of the necessary sensors such as proximity or lighting or more.
While providing an edge-to-edge display experience and thinner bezels, the two punch-hole front cameras could provide for a much-wider wide-angle lens and better depth sensing for 3D image capturing and better facial recognition.
However, other details regarding this remain unknown.
If at all the patent gets integrated into a future Xiaomi smartphone, it is expected to arrive with the alleged Mi Mix 4, given the Mi Mix series is known for its bezel-less smartphones under it.
Just as a disclaimer, we are not sure whether or not the patent turns into a real product. Therefore, we’d expect you not to keep your hopes high.
