Vodafone Idea To Launch Its Music Streaming Service In India

In a bid to compete against Airtel and Reliance Jio, telecom operator Vodafone Idea is likely to introduce its music streaming service in India.

With the launch of the new music app, the company will bid goodbye to its existing Idea Music app, which was part of Idea before the Vodafone-Idea merger.

Balesh Sharma, chief executive officer of Vodafone Idea, said, “We are sunsetting the Idea Music app, and we will come up very soon with an offering that will provide the best-in-class music streaming service through a partnership that we are in the final stages of closing.”

For those who don’t know, Airtel and Reliance have their respective music streaming services in the form of Wync Music and JioSaavn app.

While not much is known about the forthcoming music app by Vodafone Idea, it is suggested that the service is the company’s priority at the moment and the telecom operator will update users once the music streaming platform goes live.

Additionally, there is no word on whether the music service will be free of cost or have subscription options, much like other available ones.

It is further suggested that if at all Vodafone Idea plans to collaborate with the existing music services in the country for its music app, it would be Gaana due to its vast user base.

However, there is no official word as to when the service will get launched in the country. So stay tuned for more updates.
