Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.2 Beta Released With New Features
The Red Hat team has finally finished the second maintenance update for the upcoming Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.2, whose beta version is now available for download.
Dedicated for building leading Enterprise-based Linux platform with the commitment of minor bug fixes and improvements every six months, RHEL 8.2 beta comes with the latest new features and updates in software management, security, kernel, latest hardware configuration, and monitoring and performance capabilities.
RHEL 8.2 Beta with the latest additions
Continuing the tempo of the regular release, RHEL 8.2 adds subscription registration during the installation for both new and existing customers, excluding the subscription confirmation using the YUM update.
Providing better control of the lifecycle of RHEL estate for IT administrators, RHEL 8.2 Beta also offers testing with in-place upgrades from RHEL 6/7 to RHEL 8.
To effectively monitor and manage the large and scalable infrastructure, RHEL 8.2 further extends the monitoring and performance ability of the platform by introducing Performance Co-Pilot (PCP) 5.02, which brings new collections agents for Microsoft SQL Server 2019.
Furthermore, RHEL 8.2 Beta tightens the integration with the eBPF (extended Berkeley Packet Filter) for all supported architecture.
Security Customization
setools-gui and setools-console-analyses packages added for SELinux-policy analysis and data-flow inspections. Also, the administrator can now customize system-wide cryptographic policies with updated crypto-policies.
Open Source Developer Tools
RHEL 8.2 beta upgrades the open source developer tools such as GCC Toolset 9.1, Python 3.8, Maven 3.6 to its latest versions, which are available through the concept of Application Streams that were introduced by the Red Hat Team in RHEL 8 series.
The web console login
RHEL 8.2 beta redesign the web console with an option to login and configure it with a TLS client certificate.
RHEL web console also includes auto logout from the current session after 15 minutes inactivity and displays the content of banner files on the login screen, which can be configured.
