We all know that Giga Berlin is going to be different from the rest of the factories of Tesla. The EV maker claims that Gigafactory Berlin will be the most advanced high-volumetric electric vehicle production plant globally.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has confirmed what all-new Tesla will be producing at the plant. Recently, an EV channel on Twitter asked Elon about the battery cells Tesla will be producing in Giga Berlin. In response to the tweet, Elon said Tesla will be producing batteries with 4860 cells and a new structural design in Giga Berlin.

The EV maker also plans to produce the front and rear parts of the chassis in a single casting. Furthermore, there will be a new paint system.

“Lot of new technology will happen in Berlin, which means significant production risk,” Musk said. Since there’s some sort of production risk, the new technological advancements will first be tested in Giga Berlin. After the successful implementation, it will take about two years for the transition in the factories of Fremont and Shanghai.

One of the biggest challenges could be combining the rear and front underbody into one single piece. Some people thought the design could lead to complications while repairing in case of any crash. However, Elon clarified the doubts by explaining that “the crash absorption rails can be cut off and replaced with a bolted part for collision repair.”
