Over the past year, vivo’s T lineup has quietly been racking up good reviews and offering value-for-money phones. Consequently, I’ve been a big fan of the lineup, and after releasing the T4 Ultra a couple of months back, vivo is back at it again. This time, with the all-new T4 Pro, which at INR 27,999, comes with a significantly updated design to match the new V50 series, a refreshed processor, and a periscope telephoto camera, too.

So, I took my SIM out of my daily driver and put it in the T4 Pro. This review will cover my experience with the phone over the past week, including its pros and cons, to help you make an informed buying decision.

Summary

At INR 27,999, the vivo T4 Pro is an excellent all-around smartphone that nails the basics. You get a super pretty design, a quad-curved AMOLED display, ample performance thanks to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, and a camera setup that can rival that of much more expensive phones.

All this, coupled with vivo’s promise of 4 years of software updates, makes the T4 Pro instantly recommendable to anyone looking for a decent mid-range phone to use for years.

4.1

Design & Hardware

At first glance, the vivo T4 Pro doesn’t look like any of its brothers. That’s because vivo has finally done away with the bottle opener camera design and incorporated the refreshed V series design. And I’m quite the fan.

The company has always done amazing backs, and the new design language is sophisticated, clean, and gives the phone a super premium look. This, coupled with the new Gold color and the vertical lines on the side, is just the cherry on top.

I had many friends and family ask me about the phone, and everyone really loved the design. The matte finishing also doesn’t attract any fingerprints, and looks clean all the time.

The sides are unfortunately made of plastic, but that wasn’t an issue for me. They are matte, so they don’t scratch easily. Plus, vivo’s decision to opt for a rounded phone design makes carrying and using the T4 Pro a breeze. There’s something satisfying about how both the display and back curve into the frame. All in all, if looks are high up on your priority list, then the T4 Pro won’t disappoint.

The phone also features both IP68/69 water and dust resistance ratings, meaning it can withstand both submersion and high-pressure water sprays. vivo has also bundled an underwater camera mode, which makes taking photos easy. But remember that water damage is not covered under any warranty.

Display

Display is another area where vivo hasn’t left any stone unturned. That’s because the T4 Pro comes with a 6.7-inch FHD+ quad-curved AMOLED 120Hz display with a peak brightness of 5000 nits. Sure, the 5000 number is only applicable when watching HDR content, but I measured a respectable 1500 nits brightness in direct sunlight, which is more than enough to keep text and content readable.

The panel supports the P3 color gamut, and coupled with the HDR10+ certification, the media experience is stellar. I had heaps of fun watching the new Superman movie on the T4 Pro. The colors were punchy, the HDR was great, and the stereo speakers were awesome as well.

The T4 Pro is protected by the new Diamond Shield glass. And after using the phone without any screen protector for a week, there are almost zero scratches on it. Historically, Schott Sensation glasses have always been less prone to scratches than Gorilla Glass alternatives. Nevertheless, I still recommend that anyone buying the phone keep it in a case.

Performance & Software

The vivo T4 Pro comes with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip, which features one Kryo Prime (Cortex-A720) core at 2800 MHz, four Kryo Gold (Cortex-A720) cores at 2400 MHz, and three Kryo Silver (Cortex-A520) cores at 1840 MHz, along with an Adreno 722 GPU. My review unit came with 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

I had no problems using the T4 Pro; in fact, I quite enjoyed it. The phone is more than capable of opening apps quickly, switching between them, and remembering where I left off. If you scroll through social media apps and watch YouTube, the T4 Pro would feel like any other flagship phone out there. Kicking things up to demanding tasks like capturing multiple photos, the T4 Pro held its ground, and I felt no jittering.

FunTouch OS 15 was pretty good, too. Sure, most of its design elements look old in 2025, and in desperate need of a refresh, but the overall experience is respectable. It’s still highly customizable, with smooth animations and a lot of features. Plus, factor in vivo’s promise of 4 years of software updates, then the T4 Pro becomes a really solid option for people who like to keep their phones for a long time.

Benchmarks & Gaming

As this is a review, I also put the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 in the T4 Pro through a series of tests. In Geekbench, the phone scored 1,219 in the single-core test and 3,421 in the multi-core test. On the other hand, in AnTuTu, the device managed to score 994,631 points. Finally, in the infamous 30-minute 30 thread throttle test, the T4 Pro surprisingly didn’t throttle at all, which is excellent news.

Moving to gaming, the good news continues, at least if you’re a CODM or a League of Legends gamer. That’s because vivo has collaborated with these game developers to enable high refresh rate gaming, getting 90 FPS in CODM and 120 FPS in LOL.

Unfortunately, for PUBG/BGMI players like myself, I was stuck at 60 FPS. That said, the gaming experience was pretty respectable, with no dropped frames, and the temperatures were in check. Plus, the phone also includes gaming-centric features like Bypass Charging.

Battery Life

With a massive 6,500 mAh silicon-carbon cell, I had high expectations for the T4 Pro, and it didn’t disappoint. I managed to get around 10 hours of screen-on time on the most extreme day, which involved taking camera samples, watching YouTube, playing games, and, of course, mindlessly scrolling through reels on Instagram.

If you’re a normal person and don’t have a crippling phone addiction like me, then the T4 Pro is an easy two-day phone. The good news doesn’t end there, because vivo also bundles a 90W flash charger in the box, which can charge the phone fully in just under an hour.

Cameras

Image of the camera app

Coming to optics, the vivo T4 Pro comes with a 50 MP Sony IMX882 primary camera sensor, paired with another Sony IMX882 3x periscope zoom lens. While this might be an unpopular opinion, I’ve always found a good telephoto lens to be 10 times more useful than an ultra-wide camera, simply because it unlocks a plethora of different shooting scenarios.

Setting aside the debate about which lens is better, the main camera remains the star, as it captures beautiful images. In daylight, the results are detailed, well-lit, the colors are spot on, and the HDR performance is better than expected. It messes up the colors sometimes in the brightest of scenarios, but that problem wasn’t common.

Despite the lack of Zeiss branding, the T4 Pro comes with several filters and modes baked in, which adds a bit of fun element to the shooting experience.

In low light, the good news continues thanks to the Sony lenses. This means that both the primary and telephoto cameras capture detailed photos that have a taste to them. There’s not a lot of noise, the colors are mostly on point, and there isn’t a shutter delay.

The portrait mode benefits the most from the inclusion of the telephoto lens. vivo has always been the best in the industry for portraits, and the story continues here. The T4 Pro captures beautiful images both in natural and artificial lighting, with a nice shallow depth of field, excellent edge detection, and pleasing colors.

Zoom & Selfie

Moving on to the Zoom photos, I put the T4 Pro head-to-head with my daily driver, the OPPO Find X8, expecting the latter to dominate the competition. But that wasn’t the case. The T4 Pro consistently churned out well-lit and detailed photos right up until 10x zoom, which can be super useful if you like attending concerts regularly. Although the images lose most of their details at 10x, it shouldn’t be a big problem.

The selfie camera keeps the photos balanced, without overapplying a beauty filter, and produces clear and aesthetic shots every time. Finally, while the video quality was also decent, the lack of the 4K 60 FPS recording option is a huge bummer.
