Everything About GTA VI: Expected PC Requirements & Release Date
It’s no secret that Grand Theft Auto 6 or GTA VI has broken all anticipation records a year before its launch. The first trailer has already surpassed over 100 million views and made all the headlines in the world.
However, the trailer, which highlighted a 2025 release for consoles, did not mention a PC version. This has left many PC users concerned that the game might have a delayed release on their platform. Additionally, there are also worries about the potential PC requirements for GTA VI. Here’s everything you need to know.
Why is Rockstar delaying the PC release?
While the exact reason behind Rockstar’s choice not to release the PC version at the same time is unclear, a recent report by Mike York, a former developer at Rockstar, offers a potential explanation. York suggests that Rockstar traditionally favors PlayStation as the primary console for their games, driven by its user base and strong sales figures. This was evident in GTA 5’s development, where the studio initially focused on the PS3 and introduced the PC iteration after the console launch.
However, perhaps the biggest and most logical reason behind this delay lies in the inherent complexities of adapting a game like GTA to different PC hardware configurations. This is because, unlike consoles such as the PS5, which include standardized components, PCs can comprise hundreds or even thousands of part configurations. This diversity makes testing substantially more challenging.
“It’s hard to do that as a developer because the team isn’t big enough. If they had a huge team, if they had just one team working on the PC, one team working on the Xbox, and the whole time, they’d be trying to optimize all three at the same time, but it just doesn’t work that way,” said York.
When will the PC port come out?
While Rockstar has yet to officially declare any dates, industry experts speculate that the PC port might hit the shelves in 2026, aligning with Rockstar’s previous release patterns.
GTA VI PC requirements
Another major concern for PC users is the requirements. This is because Rockstar seems to have made significant enhancements to the game’s graphics and physics. While the company hasn’t officially confirmed the PC requirements, several reports about the expected system requirements are making the rounds. These include:
Minimum System Requirements:
- OS: Windows 10/11
- CPU: Intel Core i7 6600K
- Memory: 12GB RAM
- GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 1660Ti
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 150GB Solid State Drive
Recommended System Requirements:

- CPU: Intel Core i7-8700K
- Memory: 16GB RAM
- GPU: Nvidia Geforce RTX 3070

However, it is important to note that these PC requirements are speculative, and the official specifications might differ.
