Asus Expertbook P1 Review: A Value for Money Business Laptop

Business laptops have been a segment far from consumers’ reach, considering they operate on a B2B model, and rarely make any sense in the real world. However, Asus has turned the page on its business lineup and made the new Expertbook P1 available for everyone.
As someone whose work mainly involves living in Chrome—writing articles, researching, and editing spreadsheets—I was quite excited to test the laptop and answer a few key questions: What makes the ExpertBook a good consumer laptop? Do the business features matter to regular users? Find out in my review of the Asus ExpertBook P1.
Asus Expertbook P1 Review
Summary
The Asus Expertbook P1 nails the basics. Its polished design, excellent keyboard, serviceable display, ample performance, and lightweight design make it easy to carry around.
Asus Expertbook P1 Review: Design & Hardware

If I had to choose just one word to describe the ExpertBook P1, it would be dependable. Asus has done an excellent job of making the laptop look professional without being overly boring. The back finish is matte, so it doesn’t attract fingerprints. The color is classy silver, and the subtle Expertbook marking adds a touch of flair.
Open up the laptop, and you’re greeted with the same sleek design. Matte accents under the keyboard help prevent smudges. The hinge is my favourite part of the design because it allows the laptop to open with one hand, holds the display upright with minimal wobble, and opens flat to 180 degrees.
Another thing worth mentioning is the durability, as the Expertbook P1 is MIL-STD-810H certified. While I didn’t drop it intentionally, I was never worried about the laptop during regular use, and it feels like it can handle a few bumps. At just 1.4 kg, it was also easy to carry around, even during summer days.
Since the Expertbook P1 is a business laptop at core, the best part is the ports. Asus has included almost every port you might need, thus completely eliminating the need for docks.
On the left, you have two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, which support power delivery and display, along with an HDMI 1.4b port, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, and a 3.5mm Audio Jack Combo jack. On the right, there is another USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, an RJ45 Ethernet port, and a Kensington lock.
Keyboard & Trackpad

As someone who uses a MacBook daily, keyboards aren’t very high on my priority list, as long as they have a decent travel and click. The one on the Expertbook P1 is excellent for just about everyone. It offers slightly more travel than the MacBook, tactile keys, and satisfying feedback, making it great for long typing sessions.
The trackpad, however, was a bit underwhelming. While the tracking was pretty accurate and the clicks were decent, I wish it were a bit larger, considering most people using the device would spend hours in a spreadsheet.
Asus Expertbook P1 Review: Display

The Asus Expertbook P1 has a 14-inch Full HD 16:9 IPS LCD panel, which is decent. It’s perfectly fine for reading articles, replying to emails, or working on presentations. However, the panel falls short of providing a good multimedia experience due to its limited brightness of just 300 nits. The color accuracy isn’t that great either, with the display only covering 45% of the NTSC colour gamut.
Also, I’d have preferred if Asus opted for a 16:10 panel, as it’s much better for working professionals and allows them to see a lot more content. Nevertheless, I had no issues working with the Expertbook’s display, and didn’t experience any eye strain after working long hours.
Asus Expertbook P1 Review: Performance

The Asus ExpertBook P1 comes equipped with the previous-gen Intel Core i7-13620H processor, which features six performance cores running at up to 4.90 GHz and four efficiency cores at up to 3.90 GHz. My review unit also included 32GB of dual-channel LPDDR5 RAM and a 512GB PCIe Gen 4 SSD.
The day-to-day performance was spectacular. I had no issues working with the Expertbook P1, as it handled everything pretty smoothly without any lag or glitches. The 32GB of RAM was especially useful when I had over 20 Chrome tabs open with music playing in the background.
I also experienced no issues with demanding tasks, such as coding. That said, it’s worth mentioning that the laptop can get warm underneath, especially when used on your lap and blocking the vents.
Asus has also bundled several business-focused features. For starters, the ExpertBook P1 includes a commercial-grade BIOS, offering enhanced protection against potential security threats. There’s also the Business Manager app, which allows employers to restrict access to system settings, partition the SSD to protect critical data, and more.

To improve virtual meetings, Asus includes the ExpertMeet app, which can recognize participants during a call and automatically transcribe the meeting.
Benchmarks
To put the i7 chip to its paces, I also ran a series of benchmarks. In Geekbench’s CPU test, the ExpertBook P1 scored 2,572 in the single-core test and 11,035 in the multi-core test—placing it in the same performance bracket as newer Core Ultra 7 chips, like those in the HP Omnibook Ultra Flip.
However, the GPU performance was underwhelming. The integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics are starting to show their age in 2025. In 3DMark’s Time Spy test, the device managed 1,572 points.
Battery & Charging
The ExpertBook P1 has a 50Wh battery and supports fast charging via the USB-C cable. During my typical workflow—browsing, writing, and working in spreadsheets—the laptop lasted around 6 to 7 hours on Balanced mode.
Asus Expertbook P1 Review: Webcam & Speakers
The Expertbook P1 houses a 720p webcam, which isn’t much to boast about. Yes, it does get the job done when it comes to video calls and has a few touch-up features, but the resolution is pretty limited by today’s standards. Considering this is a business-focused laptop, I’d have liked to see a higher-resolution camera.
On the other hand, the downward-facing speakers performed well in my testing, delivering a satisfactory music experience. However, the volume on soft surfaces left much to be desired.
Should you buy the Asus Expertbook P1?

At a starting price of Rs. 72,990, the Asus Expertbook P1 is a pretty unique laptop in the sense that it nails the basics. The design is polished, the keyboard is excellent, the display is serviceable, the performance is ample, and it’s lightweight enough to carry around easily.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with this laptop. So, if you’re someone who primarily works on their laptop and frequently travels or moves between locations, the Asus ExpertBook P1 is definitely worth considering, especially at this price point.
