After trying out a new experience with the full-screen iPhone X, if you were waiting for the Apple HomePod smart speakers, you might have to wait a little longer. Originally unveiled during WWDC 2017 and slated to arrive in December, these smart speakers have now been delayed.
Apple HomePod will compete with the likes of Amazon Echo, Sonos One, and Google Gome. In a statement to CNBC, Apple said that it needs a little more time to make HomePod ready for the customers.
“We’ll start shipping in the US, UK, and Australia in early 2018,” Apple said. The company didn’t point out any specific reason for the delay. It seems like some more refinements are needed to improve the experience. It makes sense as it’s Apple’s first foray into the growing market of smart speakers.
A final release date is still unavailable and it would be great if Apple is able to release the speakers in January/February.
HomePod is priced at $349.
