Apple is working tirelessly in the field of health and diagnostics, and it has introduced several health monitoring features in its products.
Its next product to include health monitoring features is AirPods. According to a report by DigiTimes, Apple could release AirPods with health features by 2021 or 2022.
The report says the features will be deployed with the help of ambient light sensors and ASE Technology. This Taiwan-based company may handle the process of manufacturing these sensors. Apple already uses ambient light sensors in its TrueTone display technology.
AirPods integrated with light sensors will likely be able to monitor heart rate, step count, and detect other health conditions. The upcoming AirPods will also be able to conduct intelligent translation and detect head motions.
Interestingly, Apple grabbed a patent in 2016, which described earbuds integrated with health monitoring features using biometric sensors.
DigiTimes has a credible record when it comes to Apple rumors but, lately, the publication company has also announced some predictions that haven’t amounted to anything. Therefore, we would advise our readers to take this news with a pinch of salt.
Nonetheless, the way Apple is progressing with health features in its products, the day is not far away when we could see AirPods with health features.
