7 Games That Deserved Better

Not every good game gets the love it should. Sometimes an absolute banger just slips through our radars. Maybe it dropped at the wrong time, maybe it got overshadowed, or maybe it just had bad luck. Either way, we’re giving these games the love they deserve (and so should you). If you missed them back then, this is your sign to check ‘em out.

1. Mad Max – Not a Cheap Movie Tie-in

Mad Max was released just after the hype of Fury Road and on the same day as Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain. The result? Good game buried under poor sales with zero hype. But if the internet is good for one thing, it’s word-of-mouth, and Mad Max needs to be talked about a lot more.
The game features brutal Akrham-inspired combat, a beautiful desolate wasteland to explore, and an adrenaline shot of vehicular combat that will make you go “WHOA” with every explosion. If you slept on this until now, it’s time to wake up!
2. Sleeping Dogs – True Crime Hong Kong

This one’s basically GTA but set in Hong Kong, and instead of guns, your fists are doing all the shooting. Sleeping Dogs gives you a juicy undercover cop story worthy of the mid-80s Hong Kong cinema (think Jonh Woo Gun-Fu movies), fast-paced action, and some of the sickest hand-to-hand fights ever. It’s a perfect recipe for cool, but somehow didn’t catch fire. Don’t be a sleeping dog on this one.
3. Batman: Arkham Origins – A Sound Side Story in the Arkham-verse

Everyone always talks about Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, but Origins is like the black sheep of the Bat-family. Featuring a younger, rougher Batman and wrapped in a gripping detective story, Batman: Arkham Origins features fantastic boss fights, new interesting gameplay mechanics, and a Christmas vibe that adds mood to a dark Batman tale.
If you didn’t pick up Steam PC keys for Batman: Arkham Origins based on review scores and Reddit comments – give it a shot, you might be surprised.
4. L.A. Noire – Old-School Crime Drama by Rockstar

Rockstar is more than GTA and Red Dead Redemption. Their game log spans various projects like fan-favorite Bully, Warriors, and completely ignored L.A. Noire.
You play as a 1940s Los Angeles detective whose sole purpose is to uncover the dark secrets of Tinseltown. With its facial animations and advanced motion capture technology, the game was way ahead of its time.
It’s not another shoot first, ask questions later kind of game – it’s all about thinking, observing, and catching liars in the act. If you’re into slow-burn mysteries, L.A. Noire is not to be missed!
5. Prey (2017) – Immersive Sim at Its Finest

If Bioshock and Alien had a weird, genius baby, it would be Prey. You’re stuck on a space station where even a coffee mug could be a deadly alien. It’s creepy in a clever way and packed with puzzles, gadgets, and story twists. Thanks to bad reviews by game journalists playing an unpatched build, not enough people gave it a shot. However, over the years, it has amassed a cult following, and you should definitely join in.
6. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown – A Comeback We All Asked For But None Played

Ah, Ubisoft… After many pleas from the fans, they have finally brought Prince of Persia back, and… it’s actually awesome! The Lost Crown goes full Metroidvania, with gorgeous graphics, smooth platforming, and epic combat.
But for some reason, hardly anyone’s touched it. Maybe it’s Ubisoft’s not-so-great reputation, maybe it’s internet drama fatigue, or maybe people just made up their minds too fast – but Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown got unfairly brushed off, even though it deserved better.
7. Guardians of the Galaxy – It’s Not The Avengers

Let’s be honest: after that Avengers microtransactions fiasco, nobody expected Guardians to be any different. Oh, how wrong we were. The writing is funny, the team banter is just like in the movies (if not better), and the ‘80s soundtrack is a pure vibe. And not a single microtransaction in sight! Give it a chance, it deserves.
These games may have missed the spotlight, but you don’t have to. With digital marketplaces like Eneba, you can get these gems at a steal.
