Zorin OS 15.3 Released: A Linux Distro To Replace Your Windows/Mac

Exactly six months after the previous Zorin OS 15.2 release, the Zorin team has announced a new point version, Zorin OS 15.3. It is the third iteration of its Zorin OS 15 series, which is the most advanced and popular release ever.

Speaking of popularity, Zorin OS 15 has now received over 1.7 million downloads since its first launch in June 2019. With v15.3, it further aims to enhance the OS by bringing more new and updated software, security, and hardware compatibility.

Zorin OS 15.3: What’s New?

The latest version 15.3, is based on the recently released Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS, which will be supported by software updates and security patches until April 2023.

To improve hardware compatibility and security, Zorin OS 15.2 has also upgraded its core Linux Kernel version from 5.3 to 5.4. Subsequently, it brings support for more hardware such as newly-launched Intel 11th generation Core processors, upcoming AMD CPUs, and GPUs.

Another major update that v15.3 has received is on the software side. For instance, the latest security patches for all software and version updates of core apps to provide a better, faster, and feature-rich experience.

Additionally, Zorin OS has also included the newest stable LibreOffice 6.4.6, which comes with better compatibility with Microsoft Office documents, performance boosts, and more features.

Lastly, along with stability and performance enhancements, Zorin OS 15.3 has added improvements to its Zorin Connect app for Android such as:

  • Only auto search for devices on trusted Wi-Fi networks
  • Quick buttons to Send Files and Send Clipboard in the persistent notification
  • Full support for the latest versions of Android

How To Upgrade Or Download Zorin OS 15.3?

If you’re already using Zorin OS 15, you only need to update your system to reach the new point version 15.3 using Software Updater or by running the following command:

sudo apt update
sudo apt full-upgrade
sudo reboot

However, if you’re using a series other than Zorin OS 15, you can follow the official upgrade guide here.

And for those who want a fresh installation, you can download all available editions of Zorin OS — Lite, Core, Ultimate, and Education from here. Except for the “Ultimate” variant, which costs $39, all editions are free to download and use.
