Chinese phone maker Xiaomi has launched a global smartphone photography competition where Mi users can win up to $10,000. AÂ total sum of $50,000 is up for grabs as prize money in the competition.
The contest, which went live yesterday, features four different categories in which winners from each section will be $10,000. You are free to shoot anything as long as it falls under one of these four categories:
- Natural look (portraits, selfies, etc.)
- Piece of the world (Nature, city, still life, etc.)
- Dreamscape (Night scene, low light, shadow, etc.)
- Why so serious (Lifestyle, humor, new perspective, etc.)
The second prize winner in each of the four categories will receive $2,000 each whereas the four third prize winners will receive $500 USD each.
To participate in the contest, participants must shoot and edit the photographs on a Xiaomi handset only. No external editing is allowed, but users can use the pre-installed photo editor on their phones.
There are other pre-requisites such as the file size which must be between 300KB and 10MB and contain EXIF information. Further details about the guidelines can be found on the competition page here.
The competition is free and open for all Mi users across the globe, though you will need a Xiaomi account to make the submissions and participate in it.
Xiaomi Photography Challenge is currently open and will remain so until November 25. A panel of experts will review all qualifying photos to select 25 finalists for each category to make a total of top 100 participants.
After this point, the winners will be decided by user votes can visit the official challenge page to vote on the Top 100. There is no age bar on who can take part in the challenge. So pick up your Xiaomi phone now and start clicking pictures right away!
