Windows 95 with its trademark startup sound and the gray theme holds a special place in my heart. We have seen instances where developers and concept designers have managed to make Windows 95 available on smartphones and Apple Watch.
Now, Slack developer Felix Rieseberg has developed a Windows 95 app that can be installed on macOS, Windows, and Linux to relive the memories of old days. Source code and installers of the electron app have been published on GitHub by Rieseberg.
With the Windows 95 app, you can run applications such as MS Paint, Wordpad, Minesweeper, and phone dialer on your device.
However, Internet Explorer does not run smoothly and fails to load pages at times.
You can download the app from the GitHub for macOS and Windows. The app’s size is 129 MB, and it hauls just 200 MB of RAM with all the Windows 95 apps running. If the app doesn’t function properly for you, you can reset the Windows 95 instance inside the app.
Download the app and savor the nostalgia.
