The weekly update for users on the Dev channel of the Insider program arrived with personalization changes. Microsoft released Windows 11 build 22504 loaded with notable changes to the design department. Likewise, there are new themes for the touch keyboard, new emojis, and a new Your Phone app on Windows 11.
Windows 11 gets new features like the latest Media Player app that is shipped with the latest release every week. Moreover, the new build expands the touch keyboard themes to other UI elements as well.
“To further personalize your Windows text input experience, we have expanded the 13 themes for the touch keyboard to now apply to our other input experiences, including IMEs, the emoji panel, and voice typing,” says the update’s blog post. This means that all the UI elements of the touch keyboard on Windows 11 will have a constant theme, rather than looking different from the keyboard itself.
Apart from this, the touch keyboard will also have a theme engine where users can create their themes. As a result, users can choose custom background images to create a fully customized theme for their keyboards.
To find these theme settings on the latest Windows 11 build, navigate Settings > Personalization > Text Input. This is probably the most visible change in Windows theming. Otherwise, a new theme is just about changing the background and accent color.
Apart from the new touch keyboard themes, the new build contains new emojis with more personalization settings. Windows 11 users can set a custom skin tone for different people in an emoji. The final due update to the Your Phone app also ships with the latest Windows 11 build.
