Whatsapp Group calling feature

Facebook-owned WhatsApp has been working hard to maintain the security and privacy of users of late. Taking this forward, the messaging app is now banning users who are more inclined towards its clones than the official version.

As announced via its FAQ section, WhatsApp is displaying a warning message to users who are violating WhatsApp’s terms and conditions by using the modded version of the app.

The warning reads, “Your phone number is banned from using WhatsApp. Contact support for help.

For those who don’t know, modded or cloned versions of popular apps are unofficial versions developed by third parties.

Apart from the usual features of a particular app, the modded versions support additional features which are not available in the official app.

However, the cloned apps are often prone to security issues.

WhatsApp, via the FAQ, said, “Be aware that we ban accounts if we believe the account activity is in violation of our Terms of Service.”

Users who have received the warning message need not worry. You are merely required to delete the modded WhatsApp version and download the official one from the Google Play Store.

However, there is no word on whether or not the chat history will be retrieved.

Are you one of the users who received the warning message? Let us know in the comment section below!
