Thalaikoothal, directed by Jayaprakash Radhakrishnan, is gearing up for its digital debut after receiving positive reviews in theaters earlier this month. Thalaikoothal, starring Samuthirakani, Kathir, Vasundhara, Vaiyapuri, and Murugadoss, is based on the old practice of senicide of the elderly in certain parts of Tamil Nadu, particularly in the Virudhunagar region.

The plot revolves around Samuthirakani’s care for his father, who is bedridden and in a vegetative state. Those around him pressured him into practicing Thalaikoothal. Samuthirakani tries everything he can to help his father, even if it means jeopardizing his financial status. With some elements of magic realism in the film, Kathir plays the younger version of the father, while Vasundhara plays Samuthirakani’s wife.
