“Adam Conrad, on behalf of the Ubuntu Release Team is pleased to announce that artful has entered the Final Freeze period in preparation for the final release of Ubuntu 17.10 next week,” the Ubuntu Fridge announcement reads.
This has brought us to the latest milestone of Ubuntu 17.10 Final Freeze. For those who don’t know, Final Freeze is the last step in the Ubuntu development process. After this step, only the critical bug fixes are accepted.
The uploads in the queue will be reviewed and either accepted or rejected based on their criticalities.

Ubuntu 17.10 Final Release: October 19th
The final release of Ubuntu 17.10 will be shipped on October 19th. It’s a short-term release which will remain supported for 9 months. It’ll be followed by Ubuntu 18.04 LTS release with 5 years of support.
