Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is in India on his maiden visit to the country where he addressed IIT Delhi students. During the event, he hinted that Twitter is planning to add an Edit Tweet feature.
Many users have often requested the feature, but the social networking company has not responded as of now. Dorsey said that the company is working to add the functionality for the convenience of the users.
Interestingly, Kim Kardashian West also tweeted sometime back, demanding the edit tweet button on the platform.
I had a very good convo with @jack this weekend at Kanye’s bday and I think he really heard me out on the edit button.

While responding to a query regarding the new functionality, Dorsey said, “We have been considering edit (button) for quite some time but have to do it the right way.”
He said that the edit button would help the users in quickly rectifying the mistakes such as a misspelling or a wrongly uploaded link. However, the functionality would not be available for older tweets as it could lead to misinterpretation of opinions.
Discussing the possibilities of an edit button, he added, “If I tweet something that you agree with and you retweet that, then if I go and edit it into something that you disagree with, you have retweeted something that you disagreed with.”
He suggested that there could be options to implement it by recording the changelog or by showing that a tweet has been edited. The ultimate aim of adding the button on the platform is improving the user experience and making the social networking platform easier to use.
