On Friday, the Tumblr iOS app was abruptly removed from the App Store without any prior warning. At first, many users thought of it as a technical glitch or bug, however, a recent report from Download.cnet says otherwise.

According to the report, Tumblr was serving child pornography which got past their content filtering tools.
Tumblr is a microblogging social networking website where users post “tumblelog” or short blog posts. One can post anything like GIF, Images, links, videos, etc.
In response to the website allegation, Tumblr said that they are working on the issue. For that matter, they have collaborated with partners like the National Center for Missing and Exploited to monitor the content posted on the platform.
The social media platform confirmed, “A routine audit discovered content on our platform that had not yet been included in the industry database. We immediately removed this content.”
Presently, the Tumblr team is working to resolve the issue as soon as possible and hopefully will be able to restore its iOS app soon enough.
While Apple has yet to comment on the matter, it appears that child pornography that got past Tumblr may have violated Apple App Store guidelines, resulting in the removal of the app.
Meanwhile, Tumblr Android app is available at Google Play Store.
