@Mohamed Hisham Bassiouny: true that. But there was a time when php was everything. Even facebook, wordpress and more than 50% website still runs using php. Though they felt the pain and made it work

For some reason when I saw this headline, I got Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer stuck in my head…
You know C# and Fortran and Python and Ruby, you know Basic and Java and SQL and some C, but do you recall, the most lucrative language of all?

Youtube is written in Python. Facebook uses a home-grown language called Hack which is derived from PHP, but that isn't pure PHP. It's actually not as common among major sites as people seem to think.

I know and I like Javascript, C++ and Visual basic (from the list). Can you specify in what areas are those languages more paid? (for example c++ in videogames, etc)

No worries. C++ is still the MOST of the MOST. It's ALL those languages are BASED, well almost likely to say. It doesn't mean that when a new language is born, programmers must quit the habit. Mastering a language is the MOST IMPORTANT trait a programmer must posses.

Asif & the others, Did I say that php isn't important?
"lol php is making most of our daily used websites" that's what I meant, since it's used a lot it's no longer considered as a "rare" skill I know that php is important of course but I mean that it's the most popular thus it's not something that employer will be seeking
Php is the basic to get started and it

+ of course I will do my best to learn more, but at first do some effort to understand what I'm trying to say!

Mohamed Hisham Bassiouny LOLZZ you don’t know about PHP its opensource so everything you can get as an Extensions so there’s no need to spend lots of money on PHP based development.

Hey guys, there is no BIG or SMALL language as it puts food on your table, I learnt so many programming languages in school but am really depending on HTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT, ASP, PHP and MySql to make a living.

  18. Avatar

NO need to learn any more language if u have python skill it creates any thing…one language million implementation

  19. Avatar

PHP tiene grandes características y, aunque no se demande mucho… es una buena base para novatos; ademas todo depende.

Did you seriously just infer that HTML and CSS and "Unix" were programming languages? If you think that HTML/CSS/ and "Unix" (which I think you mean "shell scripting", not "Unix") are programming languages, then you probably don't know any of these.

  21. Avatar

    Programmers! You're not getting it!
Programming is not about language. Language are basically 'syntax' and a piece of cake with 'Manul' (You know it). We code to make machine dance, and we'll have our own preferences. You're a programmer. You understand code. Everything else are corporate craps!
No wonder what the language is, any programmer who understand Zero's and One's can code in any language in no time. Let's not forget why we code at the very first hand. 😉
Pardon me if I'm wrong! "From the programmer, to the programmer." 🙂

  22. Avatar

lol nothing is wrong with php. It is still widely used throughout the web and with wordpress. You can make a lot of money with any language. But if you want a stupid 9 to 5 then you're probably going to make less as a php developer than any other language.

  23. Avatar

You people are just sick, you see, programming language is a tool that one has to use to make something. It is up to you to determine whether you will make dollars of it or just joke with it.

  24. Avatar

Yes, agree! And I bet that No One can debate with your comment. Yes, "We code to make machine dance, and we'll have our own preferences. You're a programmer. You understand code. Everything else are corporate craps!" (y)

Walddys Emmanuel Dorrejo Céspedes am done ith the front-end and i know some basic sql but i dnt decide yet the backend Languages ruby seem hard and python and php sound easy enyhelp ?

  26. Avatar

    1. Rails is a framework, not a language!!
    2. Javascript probably includes nodeJS backend frameworks and stuffs too,
    3. Objective C on second : Probably includes Swift : I donno :
    3. Where the hell is PHP?? Don't tell me PERL is above PHP !! (no offense)

  27. Avatar

Cosmin Tanislav Your right, HTML is a markup language , CSS likewise, thought they might have some programming concepts in them but they are not 'programming languages' in the full sense of the word…good read though

  28. Avatar

That is being biased, cos they are other open source programming lanuages on the list bra..i dont know why i bother …just feeling the system…muah

  29. Avatar

Just php alone, i don't think php can be include in the list, but with those framework/open source system, i would be like other, "WHERE THE HELL IS PHP"
