The clouds of doubts hovering the ByteDance’s decision to merge social app Musical.ly with video app TikTok should disappear soon. As per the latest report from Apptopia, after the merger, TikTok has witnessed a 30% jump in the installation.
This growth has also helped TikTok to beat apps from tech heavyweights like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube. In the month of October, TikTok managed to beat the downloads numbers of all thee apps.
In a short span of past 3 months since the merger, TikTok’s monthly active users have grown from 100 million to 130 million. It’s also being reported that this rise is also partially due to increased spending on ad revenue on different platforms.
It’s worth noting that while apps like Snapchat and Twitter are either witnessing stalled growth or they’ve lost users, Tiktok has managed to beat the expectations. Just recently, we also came across reports that Facebook is building its own TikTok competitor.
However, when it comes to user engagement, TikTok might not be on par with the heavyweights. While Facebook, Snapchat, YouTube, and Instagram keep managing to score 90%+ engagement, TikTok is stuck at ~29%.
