Naughty Dog is reportedly working on multiple titles for the PS5—one of them being the previously rumored PS5 remake of The Last of Us. This remake adds to various games being remade for Sony’s PS5. While Sony or Naughty Dog are yet to comment on the Last of Us remake, the heavily rumored game is expected to hit the PS5 sometime in 2022.
The current bit of information comes from prominent industry leakster Tom Henderson. Henderson claims the project is nearing completion and could launch during the second half of 2022. While the information is still speculative at the moment; however, multiple reputed sources have claimed the last of us remake for PS5 in the past.
Not just The Last of Us remake
Along with the Last of Us remake, Henderson also noted that multiple sources have claimed that the long-awaited Last of Us 2 multiplayer might also be released during the same window. If that’s not all, fans might also get a Last of Us Director’s cut edition and the above two.
While all this information is certainly exciting for some, it’s somewhat hard to digest. Considering the Last of Us is not a very old game. It’s also possible that Sony might’ve issued a remake to align it with The Last of Us HBO series coming sometime in 2022.
Furthermore, Naughty Dog has a history of delaying games, so we suggest you don’t count on it. In addition, it’s still unclear if Naughty Dog will be the sole developer of the project or if there is some other studio involved in the remake.
Notably, the information is still a rumor until something concrete comes from either Sony or Naughty Dog; we suggest you take this information with a bit of salt. Whether the Last of Us remake for PS5 or not, 2022 will surely be a great year for Sony, with God of War: Ragnarok and the Horizon Forbidden West lined up for a 2022 release along with multiple AAA titles.
