Recently, a 3-minute-long video of a Prince of Persia reboot surfaced on the Internet. The game was titled Prince of Persia Redemption, and the gameplay footage was on YouTube since 2012.
However, for some reason, it didn’t grab anyone’s attention at the time of release and didn’t even have 150 views.
The video mentions Ubisoft Montreal along with the title of the game. One might think that the footage is fake; however, former Ubisoft developers and video game industry expert, Daniel Ahmad, confirmed that the footage is very much real.
Jonathan Cooper, who worked on game titles like The Last of Us Part 2, and Assassin’s Creed 3 confirmed that this game footage of canceled Prince of Persia inspired the Assassin’s Creed 3 pitch.
The leaked footage shows a Prince who finds his way through a crumbling city, while also showing insane fighting skills. You can see the Prince manipulating the time to fight enemies and changing direction in the middle of a jump, which looks pretty impressive.
Everything in the footage looks so intense that fans lost their minds wondering why Ubisoft didn’t make Prince of Persia Redemption a reality.
Nevertheless, no matter what fans may think, it’s implausible for Ubisoft to reboot Prince of Persia as they’re still busy with Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry franchise.
