Character-based bugs are not new for Apple devices that have once again hit by a similar bug.
As reported by MacRumors, there is a new character-linked bug tied to an Italian flag emoji and a few Sindhi language characters that could crash various Apple devices when received in the form of a text message.
The character-linked bug could affect almost all Apple devices, including iPhones, MacBooks, Apple Watches, and Apple TVs. However, iOS devices seem to be facing issues right now.
According to a post on Reddit, the bug appeared via a text message on the instant messaging app Telegram initially but was soon being circulated via other apps such as Twitter, WhatsApp, and iMessage as well.
EverythingApplePro posted a video on Twitter where it’s visible that the bug works even without the Italian flag and causes the system to malfunction.

If you receive a notification with the special characters, the chances are that your iPhone will crash and restart.
This isn’t the first time when a character bug has affected Apple products. Previously, we saw the notorious “Telugu bug” that caused devices to malfunction and crash in a similar fashion.
One of the major issues with character-based bugs is that there is no way to prevent the system from crashing from it until a patch is applied via a software update.
Apple is expected to release a software update with a fix for the character bug. Until then, we recommend our users to refrain from opening any notification having such characters.
