Tetris 99 Nintendo Direct

Who would have thought that Battle royal games like PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) and Apex Legends would have to compete with Tetris.

Yes! Only a few hours ago, Nintendo announced a new version of the classic puzzle game and it’s named Tetris 99. The announcement was part of the Nintendo Direct, where the company also featured Super Mario Maker 2 and more new games.

As the name suggests, Tetris 99 will allow a total of 99 players to compete with each other. To win the game, you’ll have to be the first one to finish your well, while other opponents send junk blocks to slow you down.

Apart from the traditional block screen, one would be able to see small wells of all the other players. With this, one can identify who is winning, and who is on the verge of elimination.

Now, its pretty clear that it’s not the conventional battle royale games that we are accustomed to playing. But, it does add something new to the genre. Besides, Battle Royale is the most popular genre in the current gaming era.

Starting from today, Tetris 99 will be exclusive for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.
