google-yahoo1-1920Short Bytes: Yahoo has entered into a three-year non-exclusive deal with Google and will now show some specific results via Google search. Yahoo has kept the full rights of discretion when it will come to passing on the search to Google.

After over a decade of bitter rivalry, this comes as a surprise to many. Yahoo is now free from the year 2009 deal with Microsoft that barred the once dominant search engine to partner with anyone except Bing. Now, the company has entered into a three-year non-exclusive deal with Google to show some of its search results including images and the search-based ads.

Well, we know how big Google is and at the time when ‘Google it’ in itself has become a verb, we didn’t expect its arch nemeses to use it well.

Yahoo has kept the full rights of discretion when it will come to passing on the search to Google. Also, the non-exclusive clause will enable Yahoo to use services of other search engines as well, unlike in its previous deal with Microsoft.

This is not a drastic move on the part of Yahoo though. The corporate had a miserable Q3 earnings and with the competition as big as Google on their face, it was better to shake hands with your nemeses rather than waiting to be crushed.

Up until now, Yahoo was only utilizing Microsoft Bing’s services, but with Google as its partner, the third most widely used search engine (USA) can redeem its revenues through the former’s advertisements.

Needless to say, we will soon see Yahoo doing Google search as well. Tell us your views in the comments below.
