There is a new Android bug in the town, and it is aesthetically pleasing. As revealed by the popular leakster Ice Universe, an image showing a scene of sunset when used as wallpaper on an Android device is bricking the smartphones.
The beautiful image is circulating on the social media platforms, and there are several users who are setting the image as the wallpaper despite the warnings.
The reason behind why this cursed image is causing Android smartphones to malfunction is that it has an improperly color-coded profile, which is beyond the scope of what Android can handle.
When set as a wallpaper, the image is crashing Android devices with several complaining their smartphone is stuck in a boot loop or cannot progress from the bootloader screen. Either way, it has been soft-bricked.
WARNING!!!
Never set this picture as wallpaper, especially for Samsung mobile phone users!
It will cause your phone to crash!
Don't try it!
If someone sends you this picture, please ignore it. pic.twitter.com/rVbozJdhkL— Ice universe (@UniverseIce) May 31, 2020
The image is said to be affecting Samsung, OnePlus, and Google Pixel smartphones primarily. Moreover, the image is also causing Android Emulators to crash.
Try getting rid of the Android wallpaper bug
In case you have already become the victim of ‘curiosity killed the cat,’ here’s what you can do now:
- Try booting your smartphone in the safe mode by pressing the power and volume up button simultaneously.
- If you are using a custom ROM or a rooted Android device that is stuck in a boot loop, reset the wallpaper data to default.
- Factory reset your device from the bootloader, but remember, you’ll lose all your data in the process.
This isn’t the only weird bug in recent times. The previous month, a bug crashed iOS devices with just a text message written in Telugu.
