There’s still time for CES 2022 to kick off officially, but it seems that Samsung couldn’t hold the excitement. The company unveiled various new models from its monitor lineup for 2022, which the company will formally announce later. Likewise, Samsung previewed the Odyssey Neo G8, the world’s first 4K 240Hz monitor.
The gaming monitor is an upgrade to the previous Odyssey series of monitors. Samsung’s Odyssey G9 already had a 240Hz refresh rate – however, this time, the high refresh rate comes with a 4K resolution display. The new flagship monitor has a fancy set of specifications, as it should.
The Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 will only come in a single 32-inch SKU, featuring a 1000R quantum Mini-LED panel. Using a mini-LED panel means that it has pixels 1/40th the size of regular LED panels, resulting in deeper blacks. There are only a few images of the monitor, but Samsung had to leave a few details to show at CES.
Moreover, the new monitor visually looks similar to the Odyssey G9, with its black and white accent with the stand. Due to its appearance, there’s probably a ring LED light on the back of the monitor. Above all, it’s the company’s highest-capable monitor offering right now.
Further, the specifications include dual HDMI 2.1 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4 input. The display can achieve up to 2000 nits of peak brightness in HDR content and a 4096 step backlight adjustment. There’s also a CoreSync firmware feature that adjusts the RGB lighting on the back of the monitor to match the content on the screen.
There’s no information yet on the pricing and availability. However, Samsung will likely launch the Odyssey Neo G8 and other monitors during CES 2022 with more details.
