With the Galaxy Unpacked 2022, the tech giant Samsung unveiled many great and new products — from the new Galaxy Tab 8 to Samsung Galaxy S22/22+. Meanwhile, something has changed this year; Samsung Galaxy Note is no more. To be precise, the good old Samsung Note is now Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.
Interestingly, the new Samsung Galaxy Note is all that the leaks suggested, apart from the Note branding. However, the new Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is more of a child of Samsung’s two iconic products – the good old Note and Galaxy S series phones.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra specs
First off, the newest addition to the Galaxy series, the S22 Ultra, comes with a 6.8-inch dynamic AMOLED 2X adaptive screen. The display supports a 120Hz refresh rate for a seamless interface and a little something for the gamers. As for gamers, the new phone will have a 240Hz touch sampling rate in game mode, along with a vision booster. In addition to the refresh rate, S22 Ultra’s display is now a super bright 1750 nits with a built-in fingerprint sensor.
While the S22 Ultra also sports the Galaxy Note’s iconic Stylus and a buttload of cameras. Talking about cameras, the new Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra boasts a total of 4 back cameras – a 108-megapixel primary camera, 3x and 10x telephoto cameras, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 40-megapixel selfie camera.
The camera upgrades also aim for enhanced night and portrait photography. Meanwhile, the most important of all, the all-new Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra features a 4nm system-on-a-chip. Which, of course, will result in the faster and more efficient working of the phone.
As for power, the new Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra boasts a 5000mAh battery, with claims to go on a full day with a single charge. Along with the big battery, the new Note will support 45W fast charging brick, which obviously won’t come with the phone.
Moreover, the phone will ship with One UI 4.1 out of the box. Samsung also said that the company would support updates with up to 4 generations of Android OS upgrades. This is, of course, better as compared to the 3 years of platform upgrades on its flagships.
But the Stylus!
Probably the highlight of the new Samsung Galaxy Note is the Stylus. First off, the latency on the new S pen has decreased from 9 milliseconds to 2.8 milliseconds, which is a massive improvement. With the new multipoint prediction, the new S Pen or Stylus will predict the path a user will take to draw with the new S pen.
Interestingly, the S pen will have improved handwriting recognition too. In addition, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will also support S pen air actions like flipping through photos controlling the phone’s camera remotely.
Samsung has announced the S22 Ultra will release on February 25th. Moreover, pre-orders for the device have started today with the pricing starting from $1200 for the base model with 8GB RAM and 128 GB storage. The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra goes up to 12GB RAM and up to 1TB of storage.
