After months of speculation of Samsung going in for an Android Go device for the lower-end market, Samsung has officially announced Samsung Galaxy J2 core for Indian and Malaysian markets, available from today.

The Samsung device works on the stripped down version of Andoird — Android Go. While Google assures to provide stock Android experience on devices running on 1Gb RAM or lower, we might see some added Samsung features and apps.

Presently, the price of Samsung Galaxy device has not been revealed by the company, but it is speculated to be below Rs. 10,000 ($142). The device will also arrive in other markets in the future.

Samsung Galaxy J2 Core Specifications –

  • Screen – 960 x 540 LCD Screen
  • Processor – an Exynos 7570
  • Battery – 2,600mAh
  • Rear Camera – 8-megapixel f/2.2
  • Front Camera – 5-megapixel f/2.2
  • RAM – 1GB
  • Storage – 8GB
  • Platform – Android Go (Android 8.1 Oreo)

To clear out the confusion, Android Go is extremely different from the Android One project, which, on the other hand, provides stock Android on non-pixel devices.

Apart from snappy performance and Google support, the Go devices come with low storage apps specially made for the Android version.
