Do you remember the success of Pokemon GO? Its maker, Niantic Labs, is among the companies which have leveraged the benefits of augmented reality to the fullest. The game topped the Google Play charts and even made people quit their jobs.

Now, the American gaming company has announced their new AR game based on J.K. Rowling’s famous fantasy novel series, Harry Potter. It’s the third AR-powered game from Niantic Labs, after Ingress and Pokemon GO.

Rumors about a possible Herry Potter AR game sprouted last year but led to nowhere. The company said in an announcement that the game, titled Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, would help people achieve their dreams of becoming real-life wizards.

Just like Pokemon GO, the players of the new Harry Potter AR game would roam across neighborhoods and cities to find magical tasks and other players. They’ll be able to learn new spells and team with other wizards and take part in supernatural battles against legendary beasts.

For the development of the game, Niantic has partnered with Warner Bros. Interactive, and WB Games San Fransisco development team. Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is expected to launch sometime in 2018.
