Short Bytes: Niantic, Inc. has rolled out their world famous augmented reality game Pokemon GO in India and other South Asian countries. The company also announced some new Pokemon and along with a special edition Pikachu for the Christmas celebration.Originally launched in July, the overnight success Pokemon GO has finally reached countries in South Asia including India, the country which is speeding in the number of smartphone users in the world. Niantic said that they had to resolve “a few administrative changes” which pushed back the rollout process.
Pokemon GO is now available for iOS and Android in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Pakistan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. However, many people have already tried Pokemon GO using APKs available on various websites.
In India, Niantic has officially partnered with the telecom operator Reliance Jio. Now, 3,000 Jio stores and partner locations will serve as PokeStops and Gyms where the trainers will be able to collect items and battle with each other. They might welcome the trainer with some free goodies, as it happened earlier when T-Mobile offered free Lyft rides and Wendy’s frosty.
Hatching from the egg
Niantic is bringing some new Pokemon to the game, mainly the ones found in the Johto region in Pokemon Gold and Silver video games. The first ones to arrive are Pichu and Togepi.
Furthermore, starting from 12th until December 29, there will be a special edition Pikachu in the game to celebrate the festive season. He will be wearing a red hat.
