Xiaomi sub-brand Poco was recently announced as an independent brand by the former. Poco was launched by Xiaomi back in august 2018 and Poco F1 was the only smartphone launched under the sub-brand. Poco was aimed to deliver feature-loaded smartphones with latest processor at a price of a mid-ranged one. Poco F1 was launched at a price of Rs 20,000 and it featured Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 8 GB RAM which made it one of the most value for money at that time.
In an interview with Gadget360, Poco India General Manager C Manmohan said that after becoming an independent brand, Poco will work on retaining its philosophy by making improvements according to customers’ feedback and active market trends.
Poco will depend upon Xiaomi
Mr. Manmohan stated that in the near future, Poco will have its own product team, marketing team, and a sales team but it will use the established name of Xiaomi in the initial phase to build their market. He also said that for the time being, Poco will operate from the Xiaomi office but soon the company will make its independent identity in all terms.
Poco will provide customer support for Poco F1 as promised previously and the changes the company has gone through in the past few weeks will not hamper Poco’s service for F1 users.
Xiaomi vs Poco
The major concept which has been created due to the Poco being an independent company is that now it is going to compete with Xiaomi as a rival. As shared by Manmohan, the first thing Poco will do to prove its existence individually is that the company will focus on creating its online presence.
He says, soon users will experience an independent website and official online store of Poco as the company is not going to sell the Poco phones through any of the Mi online stores. Further, Poco will focus on creating offline channels for the comfort of its customers.
The biggest challenge for Xiaomi is that Poco has garnered a large fanbase and people all around the globe are very excited for the launch of the Poco F2 or any of the upcoming Poco phones.
Xiaomi will have to create smartphones that can outclass upcoming Poco smartphones in terms of specifications, features, configuration, and especially price. Poco’s biggest challenge will be to produce smartphones that could make a dent in the already established authority of Xiaomi in mid-range smartphone segment.
Poco F2
Poco F2 is one of the much-awaited smartphones by Poco and the successor of Poco F1 could be launched by the company in the first quarter of 2020. However, Manmohan has said that three Poco phones are in the pipeline and the first of them will be released in the first quarter of 2020. A few days ago, a device named Poco F2 was spotted on GeekBench but the company has not made any official announcement regarding the smartphone.
Poco will also work on creating unique marketing strategies by ditching the previous ones it followed when it was a sub-brand. Additionally, the company is planning to launch affordable smartphones to have a strong grip on the market.
