PM Modi Launches ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, Says Clean India is Responsibility of All

On the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘’Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ or Clean India Campaign. He said that clean India is the responsibility of all 1.25 billion citizens of India.

The mission aims at making India clean by October 2, 2019 i.e. Mahatma Gandhis’s 150th birth anniversary. Around 30 lakh government employees across the nation and students of various colleges and students took pledge of cleanliness.

PM Narendra Modi said that he has invited nine people to join ‘Clean India’ campaign and requested each of them to call nine more people into the mission to spread it. He has requested Goa governor Mridula Sinha, Salman Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, Kamal Haasan, Shashi Tharoor, Priyanka Chopra, Baba Ramdev, Anil Ambani and cast of Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma. He added that ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign is beyond politics.
