Plague Inc, a game that lets players wipe out humanity by infecting them with a virus, went viral during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Now, the developers of the game are taking a new leap. They are adding a free mode in the game that will allow players to save the world from a deadly disease.
Ndemic Creations’ Plague Inc saw a massive spike in popularity after eight years of its release. That is because the players who got curious about the Coronavirus outbreak were looking for answers in the game.
The game is an educational tool in which a player tries to destroy life on Earth by infecting the people with a deadly virus. However, as the real world is trying to fight COVID-19, Plague Inc’s makers decided to join the efforts in their own way.
Ndemic Creations, after donation discussions with WHO, and Coalition of Epidemic Preparedness Innovations(CEPI) decided to bring out a new mode in Plague Inc, in which the players will save the world instead of destroying it.
In the new game mode, the players will have to manage public healthcare facilities, balance disease progression, and make citizens practice social distancing.
The creators of the game, who are working from home like most of us, plan to release the free update quite soon.Â
In addition to that, Ndemic Creations also donated $250,000 for the COVID-19 relief fund.
